Exit from Xserver?
I'm fairly new to Linux, but I'm hoping you'll be able to help me.
I'm running Mandrake 10.0 official on an nFORCE2 board and an ASUS v8440 (which is a GeF4 440Ti). I am able to install the latest nvidia driver and X loads properly at boot. I can also tell the system not to start in X and all is well with that too. The problem comes when I stop the Xclient. I loose my display; the monitor de-syncs. The system is still alive though; I can type startx in and everything will come back up.
Is this normal? What if I want to set init 3 and still have a display after I've been inside X? Shouldn't I be able to do that? I'm convinced that I'm doing something wrong or I haven't configured something correctly.
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
