.....And the nvidia driver is totally broken on it now.

even with 4k stacks disabled (which is no longer experimental btw) nvidia driver is broken, according to what i have heard.

I haven't had a chance to update to 2.6.7 (planned it for tomorrow), so i will get back to you with error logs when i have had a chance.

I think this is when nvidia should seriously iron their bugs out of their driver and make it compatible with the current stable kernel.

I just compiled 2.6.7 and installed the nvidia graphics module - so far so good. 2.6.7-rc3 had been running for days with no issues so I expect (hope) the final release will run ok too.

Using 8k stack in the compile.

So, don't worry, be happy

Thumbs up Re: Kernel 2.6.7 is out

The 2.6.7 kernel allows to use 8k buffers, it compiles OK and the Nvidia driver compiles and run.

I also confirm that 2.6.7 vanilla works with nvidia drivers.

4k/8k stacks are now a configuration menu option under kernel hacking. I have 5336 running in FC2 without a problem.

4k/8k stacks where a config option in 2.6.6 vanilla also. It was just Fedora that choose not to have it as an option in FC2.

Does not work here with Flat-Panel dvi port. I have to use svga port.

Also, the nv (xfree96) driver will work in both svga and dvi port, but in dvi port only 1024x768 resolution and not 3D (opengl) graphics.

Yes My apologies.

A very experienced linux friend has had problems with 2.6.7 and nvidia, I haven't experienced any problems so far.

4k stacks is still no longer experimental, and a major improvement in performance for the linux kernel, nvidia would benefit writing a 4k stacks compatible driver.

Thumbs down Re: Kernel 2.6.7 is out

I tryed kernel 2.6.7 worked fine but locked all the system in the exit. If I exit or kill -9 or alt+ctrl+bckspc the X all the system is locked.

Working just fine with same .config in kernel 2.6.5, using 8K stack in the 2 kernel.

I am back to the kernel 2.6.5
