Hi,
I am a long (long) time MS user switching to Linux. (Very new) I have an Abit NF7-M mobo with the NForce2 chipset. I just installed Debian Sarge 2.6.6 from debian.org. Seems everything is working except my sound. I had a look at the syslog record and this is what I see about the sound; Jun 22 13:59:00 localhost kernel: Intel 810 + AC97 Audio, version 0.24, 14:18:06 May 12 2004 Jun 22 13:59:00 localhost kernel: PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:06.0 to 64 Jun 22 13:59:00 localhost kernel: i810: NVIDIA nForce Audio found at IO 0xdc00 and 0xd800, MEM 0x0000 and 0x0000, IRQ 20 Jun 22 13:59:00 localhost kernel: irq 20: nobody cared! I read while researching these forums that there are sufficient drivers in 2.6.6 to run the sound chip so I can't figure out why it won't work. Please explain any suggestions in detail. (I'm that new to Linux!) Thanks, Jim |

First reaction is that it is working..... it may be the audio level is muted. Use alsamixer or xmixer to set volume.
I don't think the irq 20 stuff has any bearing on your sound. (BTW, my mobo is NF7-S v1.1 ) |
