Question Anybody tried the 1.0-0275 for AMD64 with nForce3?

Hi out there,

has anybody tried (and running) Nvidia's nForce driver 1.0-0275 on a motherboard using nForce3 (with Linux, of course)? I'm thinking about ordering such a board (an Epox EP-8KDA3+ NForce3 DDR 754 ATX to be precise) for my next computer and I'm wondering if that would give my grey hairs or is running fine?

Or is anybody using the 32bit driver 1.0-0274 in above environment? Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Regards, Thomas

Welcome to nvnews. Wrong forum this is the graphics forum you need 1 forum up.
Anyhow this is the lowdown on what you asked.
Those drivers are only for 2.4 kernels they do not have sata_nv support or gigabit support. Anyhow your NIC (10/100) should work in 2.6 kernels or 2.4.26 using forcedeth.
Gigabit support is currently in development you can download the patch HERE
Nvidia SATA support is also in development and can be added by patching 2.6.7 kernel with the 2.6.7-bk7 patchset.http://www.kernel.org/
All other drivers are all ready in the kernel.
Dont expect nvidia to release any more nforce drivers since they are supporting kernel developers directly by contributing code. Thankyou nvidia.
If you are not somewhat experienced with compilling your own kernels I would advise you not to get an nf3-250. You would be better with a VIA K8T800 board or wait for you favourite distribution to catch up with the newer kernels.

Thanks for the reply; I'll try my own kernel, did that always till 3 years ago!

(Well, this is the forum they link to on their nForce drivers download page, maybe they should change the link. ;-)
