I have updated the the riva tuner cfg lines to make this easier. I am still looking for other AA modes.

I have already found the old 6x and a new mystery 8x mode! (which isnt the same 8x we use now)

More to come.


The Nv40 supports OGMS somewhere within its drivers. Just gotta find them...


Update! I found 4x Ordered Grid MUlti Sampling. the Nv40 still supports ias my initial speculation.

The Riva tuner .cfg for 16x is on the first page with the rest my data. Check the second post.


I will be adding the old 4x OGMS and the old 6x really soon. Stay tuned.

At the Bottom of my second post you can also fine the config lines for enabling every mode in this investigation. I am later going to add 4x-9tap amd quincunx. But for the moment I have left them out.

I was wondering Chris, if you think the Super Sampling in the Nv40's are OGSS? or RGSS? or does it have both?

All the super samping is OGSS.

Great job, Chris. First we get performance boosts from all the new drivers and SM3.0 (which looks to continue) and now we get this. NVIDIA just keeps looking better. Btw, Chris, where'd you get that avatar?

OK, question time.

I'm just using the standard drivers (61.71) with my 6800GT and if I choose 8xS, is it still 4xRGMS + 1x2 SS in OpenGL, or is this a D3D only mode? 4xS is listed as D3D only, so I'd assume 8xS is as well. So if it's D3D only, then what mode am I running in OpenGL apps when 8xS is selected in the control panel?

8xS works with OpenGL too. Nvidia has simplified their AA modes. SO 8xS actually works in OpenGL nowadays, (So does 16x but not sure if 16x is actually OGSS) In OpenGL Mode.


6xS/12x/4xS and All super sampling (sole modes) function only in DirectX

Is there anyway to activate these in the UI for the ForceWare drivers? I ask because Far Cry wont accept AA modes unless you force it using Nvidia's Application Profiles. I really want to use 4XOGMS!
