Exactly!

For now 12xAA (wasn't that 6xS?) seems to be the best for FX cards. But it still isn't as good as the 8xAA that was used in the 53.03 driver.

well as I said. For oversampling to work.. A Multisample must be taken each pixel pass. Looking at the pattern here, You can see the multisample portion is not surrounding a texture sample. So the multisampling portion is not working. It is doing 2x2 super sampling though.

could be interesting see the progress done in IQ and performance with the new 8x with the various driver release

Wouldn't help much taking off the AF? especially with high livel of Antialiasing (from 8x and over)

I quite like the 4xRGMS.Now my settings for CODUO are 8xAF 4xRGMS (via RT)





On a 32 player server.Image set to High Quality, all opts off,1280x1024.(images where resized to 1024 via Irfanview and saved as jpegs, for easier viewing)
BTW, with the 4xRGMS, shimering is praticaly gone

AF performance will be largely dependent on how texture dependent the game is. UT2004 does lots of texture swapping and texturing, This is why AF for this game is so demanding. Not all games will be display this behavior.

The 6800 uses RGMS by default when 4X is selected in the nVidia CP, are you sure you aren't refferring to 4XS (the supersampling modes are what reduce the shimmering problem)

I copy and pasted all the modes as Chris has on page one to RV folder.4xRGMS choosen from there.(Also please note that all settings for game have been choosen from RT, not the driver CP).

I'll check if the uncrompessed png's have the blur also, but i can guarantee you the lod via RT is 0.0.
