Unhappy 6106 brakes nv driver

After upgrading to 6106 it broke my nv driver. does it do this on purpose?

also my fps suck get 58 running glxgears. I got 700+ with the old 53xx driver.

valid file extentions for this forum are bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip. Yet the nv bug reporter saves the file as .log? can you add .log or change the extention to .txt? also I think the file is to large to post to this forum. it will not attach as .txt

What exactly broke with the nv driver after you installed the 6106 driver?

Your glxgears fps sounds like the wrong OpenGL libraries are getting used; have you checked which libraries are getting loaded with `ldd /usr/X11R6/bin/glxgears`?

Or, perhaps you now have sync to vblank enabled?

Thanks.

I get segfaults with everything in kde (splash screen, etc.) when 6106 got installed it worked 2 minutes before it was install, no other changes where made to the system.

glx libs look ok to me? .
ldd /usr/X11R6/bin/glxgear
linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)
libGL.so.1 => /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 (0x40026000)
libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x4008e000)
libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x4009d000)
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 (0x4017f000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/tls/libm.so.6 (0x4018f000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0x401b2000)
libGLcore.so.1 => /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1 (0x402fa000)
libnvidia-tls.so.1 => /usr/lib/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.1 (0x409d2000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x409d5000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000)

sync to vblank gives the same results on or off.
no cursor shadow. Nothing extra is enabled.

Installing the NVIDIA driver requires that conflicting OpenGL libraries be moved out of the way. The NVIDIA OpenGL libraries will not work with the 'nv' X driver, and the previously installed Mesa OpenGL libraries will not work with the 'nvidia' driver.

Many KDE applications require a working OpenGL.

If you want to use the 'nv' X driver, it is best to uninstall the NVIDIA driver by doing `nvidia-installer --uninstall`; this will restore your original OpenGL libraries.

I'm not sure what would be causing your problems with glxgears; what is the output of `glxinfo`?
