Oh. Ok. I thought since it was officially announced yesterday we were free to discuss it openly. Sorry!

IMHO, having a NDA for a game patch is stupid...

The control panel was used to set the antialiasing level, which doesn't work with FarCry unless set specifically in the FarCry profile (which was not done here)
I wondered about what would happen if you DID enable the Far Cry Profile in the nVidia control panel, and then control AA/AF within the Far Cry control panel.

I third this. ChrisRay knows what he's doing. Hopefully nVidia hires him in the future because he sure knows what he's talking about.

Anyone know yet why the 1.2 patch causes a loss of about 8 to 10 fps on PS2 hardware?

I've heard several different ideas of what it might be, From nvidia conspiracies to more likely scenerios.

Some believe its the fact that it was written in HLSL for shader 3.0, And the new 2.0 fallback isnt as optimised as the earlier 2.0 code that written.

Well that seems totally dumb to me. You have a game thats been shipping for what 4 months now. And you write a patch that slows down the performance on a majority of the hardware that its ran on (granted it will run faster on the 6800 but I would guss only a small fraction of the users have them atm). I mean call me crazy but if you have a shipping title then one thing you normally dont do is mess with the rendering engine to hurt perfromance on a majority of the other cards out there. Seems to me the smart thing is to fix all game critical bugs. Then play around with the rendering engine on the next game....

I have seen websites say its faster for ATI and slower for ATI, I'm not sure what to think. By the time I get my 9700 Pro though, it'll be too late for me to investigate it I'm sure. I really doubt the performance loss is as big as its been exxagerated, If it's even there.

That being said, it did fix the obsurd Image Quality issues for the Nv3x owners.

This is good and bad. As you can see from the chart I attached (from xbit) the only PS2.0 hardware that takes a hit is the nv3x.

Yes I'm aware of the hit. But to be honest. I'd rather lower the resolution on my 5900 than face that terrible banding, But that is of course my opinion
