I still use the tommti FP32 patch, because like you, I dislike the ugly banding and 1.4 "replacement" shaders, yuck! Just recently hooked my PC up to TV and running Far Cry at 640 x 480 and 8x AF. No need for AA in this mode because I'm far e-nuff away from the TV I don't see any jaggies. Looks really good and plays much faster too

Bring it on, 1.2

Isn't this to be expected since it's now "fixed" for the Fx users? Using the R3xx path basically did the same thing. Dropped performance.

I mean call me crazy but if you have a shipping title then one thing you normally dont do is mess with the rendering engine to hurt perfromance on a majority of the other cards out there. Simple solution. Don't install the patch. The game already runs pretty well on the ATI cards so why bother with the patch if any of the 1.2 changes bother you. Or wait for 1.3 when 3Dc or whatever is supposed to be added and that should help improve performance.

Where the heck is the patch? It's Monday morning here and nobody has the patch available for download yet. Oh well, it'll probably be released later tonight or something.

The shinyness in SM3 with the 6800 is still less then the X800:

6800

X800

Not that's really a big deal on these shots, but I wonder how its looking in real time.

Bad news folks - no v1.2 patch today according to a UBI forum mod.

"In the german Forum the Moderator UBI_Marc annouced some minutes ago, that there is currently no releasedate for Patch 1.2!!!"

This was posted at 6:45am this morning. I hope he's wrong.....

Here's the link BTW: http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=...91&m=572105325

Yeah, I read something about that on the US FarCry forums. That really sucks. Stupid GameSpot just wanted people to subscribe to their services. That's really retarded.

Not only that but all the review sites, including this one, said the patch would be released today.

One of the sites said they were going to ask about that to see which was one was correct. They speculated the shinier one could be a result of having to do the lighting in two passes so it's overbright whereas with the SM3.0 it was one pass so it's not. Of course, they said it could go the other way also. I think they had hoped to get answer from Crytek on that but not sure if they have yet.

Edit: Cool graph in the DH article.
