Edit: It was AnandTech's review, not The Tech Report..

Gah - Tom's hardware didn't even bother testing at 1600x1200 resolution and only went up to 4xAF. Their reviews are a pathetic.

I liked that he included 5950 and 9800 XT results though.

Yeah true but I do not like the methods they use to test video cards for the most part. I will always check their reviews though as I like to read as many different angles as possible.

I do like when they do things like monitor roundups as they test a good number of them.

Well here's my $.02, nVidia doesn't want the patch released yet because they STILL don't have official drivers for the 6800 series ready. I'd say as soon as they do we'll see both available - probably on the same day. Time will tell...

I don't get the connection? Why would it depend on the nvidia drivers? Didn't the patch work for the people that tested it during this preview (not sure if everyone used the same driver or not)? I guess I think they're trying to fix the ATI glitches before releasing it since those were introduced with the patch (i.e. weren't there before and you hate to take a step backwards with a patch). As far as nvidia, I'd think they'd want it released sooner rather than later since it has been a thorn in their side for a while now and this patch fixes most of those issues. Anyway, nvidia does need to get out an official driver though. It does seem to be a little confusing for the 6800 users (knowing which one to use) since so many leaks are out.

In every review I read they were using unreleased SM 3.0-enabled 61.45 drivers (the current 61.45 leak doesn't support it) which no one else has access to. AFAIK, only 61.71 supports SM 3.0. Since many 6800 owners are using the drivers that came with their card, they won't be able to run SM 3.0 even with directx 9.0c installed.

Sooo, the big NV needs to get an official driver set out there in conjunction with this patch to all users can benefit from it...assuming of course they install DX 9.0c too. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that's the holdup.

I disagree with everyone.

The patch will not be released for a while, I dont feel they have any reason to do it untill DirectX 9.0C is released by Microsoft.

You dont expect Ubisoft/CryTek to tell people "Ok, download a beta Service Pack" just to run the game in the new mode?

With the length of time this patch is taking the 1.3 patch is going to take even longer since they are adding even more stuff. Christmas if we are lucky, but then Doom3, Half Life 2, and Stalker will have been out already.

So the 61.71 drivers are the only ones to enable SM3.0? Are there even beta 61.71 drivers out yet or are those yet to be released?

If the patch takes longer than August 3rd, I'll probably forget FarCry cuz DOOM 3 WILL BE RELEASED!!!!!
