Ok Guys, I have finished benching Volcano, I have noticed that significant improvements seem to be where they are drawing alot of geometry.

Paticularly anywhere with grass I have notice a 10%-20% improvement with Frames per second.

Chris, why such a low resolution? Why not use something like 1600x1200? Anyone with a 6800gt or higher wouldnt play at 1024x768

Neo_Radeon9700.... My preferred gaming resolution is 1024x768 with 4xAA and 16xAF... And I know I'm not the only one.

A lot of it has to do with the reduced passes necessary with SM3.0. Instead of an individual pass per light, SM3.0 renders the Research and Volcano maps with heavy use of per pixel lighting in a single pass. These gains are not across the board in FarCry as a result.

Instancing of the grass is a VS3 feature. Maybe they'll instance the trees and bushes in later patches too.

Right, grass is reason for improvements in Training and Regulator due to instancing.
