Default Random X lockups

Using the nvidia drivers my x randomly locks up. This usually happens when I click something or do something within x. I've also noticed it locks up completely when I use a fancy (random) screensaver, but not if i just "blank screen only." When it locks up (not the screensaver lockup), sometimes I can still move the mouse around, and I'm able to login remotely and kill X and sometimes prevent a reboot.

These type of lockups don't happen when I use 'nv' drivers, but I did have other of lockups when I full screened or switched out of full screen on some games (which doesn't happen using 'nvidia' drivers) ...

os: debian testing with linux kernel 2.6.7
drivers: 6106 (but happens with all previous versions i've used)
cpu: athlon xp 2100+
motherboard: asus a7v333
graphics card: geforce ti 4400 128mb

EDIT: gah.. sorry... i didn't see the other identical thread!
