The DirectX 9.0C SDK RC0 which was released to testers has the updated fxc.exe. That is what is needed to solve these problems.

We have the updated fxc.exe (956KB dated 6/11/04) and are checking for "ok" to make it available to download from here.

Hey guys. I can't seem to get my SM3.0 working. Everything seems to have disappeared from the level. Any idea what it could be? I did everything just the way the forum said, tried it a couple of times.

Check this out. I did the Research lvl timedemo (new) with, and without sm3 enabled. The first is with, the 2nd without. Check out the differences!?!?!

With SM3 min of 56.52 and max of 92.46, without 12.99!!!!!!! was my min and 82.92 was my max. Average fps with sm3 77.23 vs 64.35 without! Thats a 20% boost without having to pay anything more than what I already had!

This is on a 6800 GT at ultra lvl clocks (400/1100) and a mobile amd xp 2400 at 2.4ghz (218x11) and 512 hyperx memory at 2-2-3-11! The resolution was 1152x864. There was 4aa and 4af enabled in the game, with everything VERY high except for water which was ULTRA. It was trilinear also! Very nice!

SM 3.0 path

Well, like I said earlier...I'm not so sure that you do. MikeC noticed performance gains with the original fxc.exe in his early initial tests. Others here are as well and I don't think they have the 6/11/04 version of fxc.exe. But yes, if/when we can post it, we will.

Does anyone know how to create custom time demos? I would really like to do some benchmarking in other (outdoor) levels.

UPDATE:

Okay, the 1.2 patch gives you the ability to do an unlimited number of quicksaves. To do this, get to a point in the game where you want to save, bring down the console and type: \save_game mysavename

Now type \record mytimedemoname and start doing your thing...when you're done bring console back down and type \stoprecording

So now when you want to run your timedemo just refer to one that you created and then look for the log file in the directory of the map it was on when you're done. Always ignore the first loop of the timedemo, set num_runs to at least 1 (timedemo loops are 0 based). Good luck!

but im not sure if it matter where u add these lines..im waiting for a response in the drivers section, but no one is answering. =/

And I know u have to edit the inf BEFORE you install the drivers, so we'll have to uninstall, then edit the .inf, then re-install.

i added mine at the buttom and i have had no problem's.
