I created a time demo on the research map. nVidia's demo only included in door environments where the most performance gains can be found. This is a walk around the entire outdoor section of the map.

SM3.0
Frames: 5137 - Time: 126048ms - Avg: 40.754 - Min: 26 - Max: 64

SM2.0
Frames: 5144 - Time: 127712ms - Avg: 40.278 - Min: 27 - Max: 61

I used Fraps to capture the data.

EDIT: lol I almost forgot, this is at 1600x1200 with 4xAA and 8xAF.

That's not surprising as NVIDIA focused on the indoor environments as that is where the majority of the per pixel lighting taking place in a single pass (via SM3.0) occurs. Outside would likely be a wash as your test shows.

Well, since i upgraded to 1.2 I can not play multi player. It automatically says "kicked" when i try and join a server. Anyone else have this problem?

This is kinda late , but ..

1)How do i creat a timedemo in FC??

2)When trying the install the patch .. its dosent recognize that FarCry is installed

1) Start reading here.

2) Check your file size of your patch, sounds like an incomplete setup.exe

Ok, I just benched the whole temple section of the Catacombs map. I wanted to test the map one because it is over looked and two because it was a real killer when I played through it with my Radeon 9600XT.

1600x1200 with 4xAA 8xAF. Tri opt. On - Aniso opt. Off

SM2.0
Frames: 2953 - Time: 44230ms - Avg: 66.764 - Min: 23 - Max: 115

SM3.0
Frames: 2939 - Time: 42910ms - Avg: 68.492 - Min: 26 - Max: 136

Not a big difference, but noticeably smoother when the rocks fall in the beginning of the temple.

All-right....... I fixed my problem.(Patch installation interupted, no files were modified).
I uninstalled Win SP2 (thanks the stars that it came with a working uninstall program). After that the 1.2 patch installed without a hitch. Then I reinstalled SP2 and all is once again well in my "little" world.
So far this has been my first problem since installing SP2 over a month ago.

I know this might have been asked, but I've read over most everything and still can't see anyone answering it or asking it

What is the effect of this patch on the FX series? Will my FX5900SE beniefit at all performance wise with the patch, or will I only be getting the bugs fixed?

Doesnt work correctly for me, using DX9.0C (ripped version), 61.76 (edited) with 6800GT. I have enabled the SM30 path (SM30 Text ontop) but the performance is wrong. framerate keeps dropping to 42fps in places where it should be 60+. Also when inside when its at 42fps turning on the flashlight has no effect on the framerate which just isnt right.

Not sure about the rest of your performance problems, but I think the the flashlight is correct because that lighting is being rendered in a single pass. Though I could be wrong on that.

Yeah I think you're right Sat...IIRC MikeC tested with the flashlight as well.

No you guys don't get it. OIC. Hmmm, no that doesn't sound right. It sounds like you have everything setup correctly. Do you have the new fxc.exe? I doubt that would make a difference though.
