You see you say you had "major artifacts stutters horribly on normal settings". You had a broken card with more problems than the stuttering. This thread is about the stuttering only.

More and more funny, made by nvidia :

With 77.76 and olders drivers i can play games like Soldiers WWII, but Earth2160 will freeze to death. BUT with the latest drivers it's exactly the opposite, Earth2160 will works perfectly without any freeze but Soldiers will not passed the first panel.

try to log the temperture when u'r game is freezing, you finally will get the whole picture... its freeze when the caard reach his limit of 107 deg. (c)

i do a lot of testing, i have ASUS V9999ULTRA Deluxe card, when i cooled him (by open the case and insert a cold air into it) the freezing are gone, and when i put all things together at my ATX Case (very hot in there!), the freezing are back...

its not about drivers and fastwrites, its all about the heat.

Wrong! It may be true in your case, but we are not talking about heat issue. That was discussed already... Read some previous pages.

Does anyone here have Fable: the lost chapters?

(i've had the freezing issue with other games, certain drivers fix it for some games, certain others don't).

With fable:TLC 77.x drivers and older don't work, at all, no matter what settings I put it at.

It just freezes up on me.

However the 80.40 and the newer 81.26 drivers allow me to play, but ONLY if I turn shadows off. If I turn shadows on the freezes come back.

Anyone else have this same issue?

Also it seems in any game, no matter the drivers I use, I have a "texture" flickering issue, that seems to be related to the shaders.

i dont have fable but i have noticed that with 77.72 or latest i have less freeze but shadow bugs, with 77.77 and newer i have goods shadows but lot of freeze. By the way putting on the fast write give me more shadows and flickering

To play Fable, you must install the driver 78.03; with this, you can play with shadow on.

Played FEAR a bit on the 81.84s. Some minor graphical anomilies, but nothing to fret over. Also no freezes (yet). Solid :P

could it be related to sound card ? I notices a lot of people able to fix the thing with latests drivers dont have sound card O.o

its not the sound card... i had onboard crap and then i went to audigy2 and the stuttering is still there..... there is no fix that works for everyone

i also noticed that "fixes" are games related so i am affraid that a lot of people thinking that the latest drivers kill this bug, will see it again when trying others games O.o
