OK... I think I solved my problem... if I did I just have to say it wasn't related in any way to the video card...
I ran a memtest and I got a s**t load of errors,so I ran the test again on eatch of the 512MB plates ... got no errors there (so the RAM has no problems). After that I put both the 512MB GEIL RAM back but in diferent slots (so it is not dual channel anymore...now it runs in singlechannel)
I played for more than 4 hours and no more freezes...

This might not work for everyone but if you didn't try to tets your RAM yet you might whant to download a memtest and run it for a couple of hours.

I have fixed the Freezing problem for my gf6800. Just change a thing in NvTweak (dont know if anyone has already said this). But im on work right now. When im back from the work ill tell u what to do

Get NvTweak Open it. Then click on "Settings" and after that Advance Windows Tweaks. A new window comes up and look at "Optimize system cache size". See it? Well Change the setting from "For server" to "For desktops". Restart and sleep well. (it did work for me No more Freezes!)

Ok, so it seems that the freezing/crashing issue has several fixes, but what about the stuttering/Ghosting ??

Anybody cured that?

I keep getting the odd stutter and hitching in my games, i thought it was
solved by digital vibrance disable... but in the last week its started up again
for no reason

Well... 7800 cards are good. As all pci-e cards. I woudn't rule them out.

Hi .
Its beena while since I posted here and I see people still have issues with freezes. So I thought I'd write my solution again.
What solved the problem of FREEZES was modding the BIOS to provide 1.4V for 3D mode - as the Ultra. The card been running as Ultra (in 3D mode of course , why else ) without a problem.

GL.

btw, if u got problematic card and try to dump it, than the reduced price is your penalty. Try and fix it. No reason it shouldn't work.
