Just tried the fix again in rivatuner and again it didn't work. Next!
I do have to say though that after I upped my 3d voltage to 1.4 a while back and turned off fast writes I haven't had any freeze ups at all at stock speeds while playing games.

I just got an evga 6800nu, and I'm also experiencing this issue. Just a couple of observations:
It only occures in Direct X games. OGL games don't display the stuttering and freezing. ut2004 when set to its ogl renderer no longer exhibits the random freezing and stuttering.

Overclocking seem to exacerbate the problem, stuttering becomes more apperent and happens more often. Again under any OGL capable game this problem isn't apparent even with overclocking.

Another curious observation is when installed into my abit nf7 there is no longer stuttering or freezing.

System Specs
AMD64 3000 @ 2.2 1.55v
Chaintech VNF3-250 NF3
Antec True Power 430w
1gb Corsair valve ram @ 220mhz
Evga 6800nu @ mem 820mhz core 390mhz (only usable in OGL capable games)
WD Raptor 74gb
lliteon dvdrw

Hey all,
i know you probebly talk about it, but what works for me may work for you...
i dont have a powerfull computer as such u all got.
i have only p2.4MHZ not HT, 512MB RDRAM, Asus P4T-533C mobo, 2 HD of W.D (80GB and 200Gb) and the great ASUS V9999ltra Deluxe Graphic card, with Antec 420 (2 molex connected directly to the GC)

well, i do a lot of testing, when i porchased it (8 month ego i think) i got crazy of all this freezing, its help for me when i set the 2d and th 3d to the same clock speed (425).. its work fine for a couple of months untill... i installed a new driver of Nvidia. i must say 66.93 was awesome, but after i tried the new drivers i noticed thr freezing are back again... well i thought its a metter of drivers, but when i roll back to the old and good one, its still doesnt help.... ofcourse i tried to set with RivaTuner the core speed over and over (every time after instaling new driver its go back to default core speed, so u need to change it back).

i tried another ways, well i think i found something.. i've noticed that my asus get warmer from no reason, i dont know why, but its temp is 71 (!) c in desktop mode (i mean when i am not playing). its got worse when i start to play (at high res ofcourse) its going over 90 C~ !! and when its reached the maximum the freezing are back (i can know it because the game graphics get unclearly and distorted...), and i need to wait about 15 sec till its going back to the game. after 3-4 freezing, the computer crushed...(do a reset)
*** anyway, i found out, when i open my ATX case, and leave the door open, it aint crash, i can play at maximum res at every game, without crashes.... so my conclusion, its all about the temp and ofcourse synchronize the 2d and 3d to the same clock rate....

what can u say about it, (i mean mabe its still related to drivers?), i've got tired of searching as much we all do....
i'll hope someday someone will give us the answer that we might want to hear

till than, have a nice, unfreezed day ! u all,
mushies

edit: after few more tests i reached the following conclusion: for me, the freeze happand when core Temp got to 107C (!). than the game will not continue till the temp is going down by 10c (i mean when its cooled to 97c)
you can see the log belong...

i'd like to know if someone with xp pro 64 bit suffers the same stuttering????
'cause i think it's more a driver stuff than an hardware stuff : i mean i have zero problems under opengl games but with direct x 9 ......
may be under 64 bit condition.....

I have trouble only with directx games and apps when overclocking also loubkt. Open GL games run fine with my card overclocked. Weird.

Yes in happens with Win XP Pro 64 and it's actually worse under Win XP Pro 64.

I don't think it's a driver problem. If it was I think they would have fixed it by now. I think it's a defect in the Nforce3 chipset. My BFG 6800 Ultra never stuttered when I had an Nforce2 motherboard.

The stuttering only occurs in Direct X and only with a NF3 chipset, but why does it only affect Direct X? I don't think the problem solely lays in the chipset. I had a FX 5900@525mhz core 900mem and it didn't exhibit this problem.

Since there seems to be no solution or explanation to the stutter for those who have a nf3 chipset in conjection with Direct X game. We should press nvidia for at least an explanation and hopefully a solution.

Well perhaps, just perhaps, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Friends over at guru3d have mentioned that the new beta 77.13 drivers have cleared up stuttering and freezing when the 6800/NF3 combo is used.

It is too early to tell for sure and make conclusions, and I can't test it myself since my rig is unable to be setup right now because I just moved.

So if anybody wants to take the initiative, let us know if this is perhaps the long awaited solution.....

Ok dammit I will be the guinea pig for this as it is very easy to test for freeze ups on my machine. If I overclock at all and start 3d mark 01 i get almost instant freezing. be back in a bit.
