Well, I think that it would be easier for ATI and Matrox to merge, as they are both Canadian. However, at the same time, I would also think that nVidia is in a much better financial position to make a purchase like this.

I don't think it is a good idea, merging is viable only in estabilished markets with little or no growth, in this situation why would ATI want inexperienced matrox engineers? They probably have all teh experienced ones anyway.

What I am amazed is that those ArtX guys produced such a good chip architechture as R300 from their first shot as part of ATI .

to here I have nothing to comment anymore. ask Chalnoth. He seems to know exactly where Matrox is going.

Really? That's interesting. I wasn't aware of that.

All that I've said, I think, was that Matrox should really scale back and target a niche market. If Matrox doesn't do this, I think they're pretty much doomed.

Heh.. I was wondering what ArtX would pull off. The flipper chip is really pretty sweet
