Yes to your question. No to recommending doing 2 PSU's tho. Most review sites recommend a higher amp rating on ONE rail, rather then two low amp rails.

200v/240v/3a 50hz
Output - 200w
i have no idea whats the name of my power supply unit, and i would be very gratefull if someone would tell me if i need to buy a new one or mine will do well?

You will have to get a 400w or 450w power suppy with a 18A or higher preferably a 20A on the 12V line for a Ultra, buy a good quality PSU.

If you really "don't understand nothing about pc's", then I would *strongly* recommend you get someone to check out your PC thoroughly before you go spending any money on a new graphics card.

Your PSU output (200w) is very low and that would certainly need to be replaced. But even if you did that, there would be no guarantees a 6800Ultra would work in your PC. Heck, it might not even fit!

Have someone who knows take a look at your PC for you and give you some advice.

Hi all
Is this enough for 3 hard drives, gainward 6800 gt, 2 cd drives, audigy, 3200+ 64, and 2 fans?

doubtful your +12 rating is only 15amps. It might do ok if you didnt have 3 harddrives. Best I can say is try it. If you get errors, then upgrade PSU to something with at least 18a on +12, preferably more, but 18a is fine.

OK my coolermaster stacker is up and running I installed two 450 power supplies with 18A 12v rails so far so good. I still would like to know how does one know if the juice is not sufficient.

Will there be artifacts or reboot or hang.

Personally, I think you made the wrong choice and should have gone for one decent PSU. I told you so in the thread you started. But, heck its your choice.

May I ask, what brand (PSU) did you purchase?

I agree. Besides a heat issue of 2 PSU's, theres double the power consumption. ONE GOOD PSU with a higher +12 rating is better then two PSU's or one PSU with 2 +12 lines

I got a stock chinese take away with 18A on the 12v rail I'm running the GT off the one and the rest of the system of the other PSU.

Dont know if it makes a diff but it sure looks wicked I'm sure 18A is good

Well I hope it works out OK for you.

The problems with "cheap" PSU's are:

1. They lie about the specs. Often the specs quoted are "maximums" or sometimes they are "at 20c", when in fact the PSU will run much hotter and deliver much less current when hot.

2. The regulation on the PSU is likely to be crap. Large swings in demand for current are likely to send the voltages all over the place and put a lot of strain on the voltage regulation of your other components. Possibly leading to crashes, or component failures.

3. The noise and ripple performance is typically crap.

4. They are usually less efficient and use more power (if that matters. It does to some people.)

5. They are usually not as quiet. Especially so with two of them!

6. They feature cheaper, lower quality components and more prone to failure. Things like failed (screaching) fan bearings quite common.

7. Dubious ATX conformance with regard to total PSU failure. i.e. if/when one of them fails, it can take out your whole system. This should *never* happen, but it does.

Personally I wouldn't power a fish tank with one. But heck, I wish you luck.

Chip

I use an Enermax Noisetaker 470W silent PSU +act. PFC twin fan ATX12V 1.3
It has a seperate filtered molex connector specifically for GFX cards, works a charm with my BFG 6800 GT
