Angry TI4200+XFree86 Freeze

Hello... I'm just about ready to throw this thing out the window.

I won't waste time with my feelings. I've got a TI4200 128 MB card, running Slackware 9.1 and kernel 2.6.7. I did everything in the driver instructions for three different versions, all non-working. I type "startx" and it goes to a black screen and freezes. I've tried alternate drivers and they screwed up my installation.

What the heck is going on here?

That does it. I'm sending this card back; it should NOT be this difficult to get a video card working.
