Another thing that has really been bugging me (besides the complete annoyance of changing video settings) is how incredible dark the game is. I have the brightness up all the way and the game is STILL pitch black.
The flashlight pisses me off like no other also. |

I would imagine that a base on Mars would be relatively dark...that pesky Sun is a lot further away than it is from Earth.
It would seem kinda unrealistic/cheesy for a game of Doom 3's ilk to be "bright" IMO. ![]() I think that the way the dust in the air is brought out with the flashlight is one of the cooler effects I've seen in a game in a while.

![]() and as for the dust...is that actually in the air? i've been thinking about this a lot and i don't think it is. i think it's just an effect that is only on when the light is on. it's the same repeated pattern over and over, so that's why. and 'sides, that would be some THICK air. ![]() |

Well it wouldn't be visibile in the air unless you had a focused beam of light like a flashlight on...ever been outside on a cool, foggy night? Or in a dusty warehouse? Looks just like that. ![]()

I'm loving the game so far. There could be a fewer Imps to kill, and the textures could be a little higher res, but everything else is fantastic. The weapons are more balanced than any game I've ever played. The enemies look awesome. The sound is amazing. The action is pretty much jaw-dropping. So far, so good. Performance wise, it's unbelivable, and the shadowing and lighting is unlike anything that's been done before. Truly impressive stuff.

What difficulty is everyone playing at? Marine seems plenty tough to me right now, but I'm loving it so far.

I'm on the normal setting, Marine I think, and I wish I'd done the Hard one because I haven't died once yet and I'm at the Delta labs.
