Default IA32 driver on AMD64 architecture -- known issues?

My new AMD64 system (dual opteron) is running 32-bit Red Hat Linux. The video card is a Quadro FX 1100 using the 1.0-5336 nvidia driver.

I am about to update to the new 1.0-6106 driver. But before I do, I was wondering if there are any known problems with using the IA32 drivers on AMD64 architectures, particularly problems that could lead to monitor damage.
I ask this because I have a recurring problem of new CRT monitors getting damaged -- whether it's the video card or maybe bad electrical wiring in the house I don't yet know. However, I want to cover all the bases so it doesn't happen again. Note: Refresh rates in XF86Config are set to manufacturers specs.
