Default Lame Liquid Effect

I think the graphics in D3 are excellent, but the liquid effect in the toxic waste disposal area is just lame. Its a flat texture that just sort of wobbles around a bit. Its basically the same water effect that was in the Quake 1 engine.

At least it's bump mapped. Still, that is being a bit lazy.

Yeah, that is a pretty lame effect, you'd think after almost 5 years of development, they'd come up with something that looked better than what Half Life offered.

Ahh well, whatcha gonna do.

well, not saying i disagree... but how else could they have done it to make it look better? IMO i think they were going for a non transparent waste look, and that's about the only way to go about it that i can think of.

Talking Re: Lame Liquid Effect

Could have made it do bubbles and splatter arround :P , but you don't get many of those areas thats why devs didn't bother i guess

Are you sure that is even supposed to be liquid? I was at that part of the game and I don't think it is. It has little 'hills' in it that don't move so I am quite sure it isn't intended as a liquid. I have seen other liquid (lava and stuff) that looks much better than that in the game :\.

Its a liquid. There is another room filled with the stuff where you have to switch off a pump to drain it.

To make it look more like a liquid it should be a little reflective and transparent.

Maybe it is toxic sludge and is really thick :\. I have seen other liquids that do not look anything like that in the game.
