Well one possibility with the flashlight is the marine you play doesn't have a helmet, maybe the standard issue helmets in the year 2145 have infared/nightvision built in, who needs a flash light when you've got that? Anyways I agree with the others, it wasn't put on any of the guns to add a level of fear to the game, not knowing what lurks in the shadows when you can hear the growls of an imp near by.
edit Oh and to those who think that D3 borrowed from the whole HL/Scientists mess with something they can't control thing I believe Doom3 kept true to the Doom1/Doom2 story, UAC was there and obviously the portal to hell was opened some how, it just wasn't really clarified in the game like iD chose to with doom3. Read some of the Doom books, I'm sure they a similar story line. |

BTW I'm not at all disappointed in doom3. Not one bit. It's nearly precisely what I expected it to be. A horror/sci-fi, monster killing, run-and-hide-and-gun fest. This is what it was meant to be! It's the way the original doom was meant to be (according to john carmack i think it was). Nothing more, nothing less. Of course people aren't going to like it, but that is the nature of things. I don't particularly see the point of people calling Doom3 '****' or whatever... **** compared to what it was meant to be or **** compared to what it isn't, and was never meant to be? The latter is... pointless, isn't it?
Anywho... just babbling on here... so I'll shut up ![]() |

As stated, the multiplayer options have been overlooked on this title and I expected alot more. ![]()

Are you kidding? id had repeatedly stated that multiplayer was not a concern and would not be focused on. They threw it in for the community to play with. This has been mentioned plenty of times on this forum, and several times in this thread. Probably hundreds of times before release, it was no small news at all.

The least they could of done, was to remove major bugs prior to its release in the multiplayer department instead of leaving it done half arsed.
