Default Booting with monitor off res 1920x1440, monitor on res 1280x1024.. why??

Hi, I hace a problem with resolutions.

My monitor is a SONY GDM 4011p and his max resolution is 1920x1440, I configure correctly XF86Config buts when I boot linux (RedHat 9.0 with nvidia 61.06 driver) only takes 1280x1024... It's bad... but when I boot with my monitor powered OFF linux takes 1920x1440 (I only have to wait to the login window)

I't very rare, why can be??

there is an option to fix these comprobations betten driver and monitor??

The first things to check are horizontal sync and vertical refresh. Put the correct values from your monitor manual (or other reliable source) into your X config. Then see what happens in your X log (in /var/log/) when you start it again.
