Ok, I extracted the drivers, did make install.

But the next time I boot into kde, I get the KDE crash info thingy, which says something like...

kcminit
signal 11
SIGSEGV crashed

and then my system would hang up and I have to do hard reboot.
What threading library are you using?
(And what version of the driver?)

The old (4365) driver doesn't work with any threading library but libc_r.

I suggest making a file called /etc/libmap.conf with the following contents.
Code:
# /etc/libmap.conf
#
# candidate mapping
#
libpthread.so.1 libc_r.so.5
libpthread.so libc_r.so

libc_r.so.5 libc_r.so.5
libc_r.so libc_r.so

Hi darius, thx for the reply

I have no idea what thread library i was using, and I am trying to use the 61.13 drivers. Is there anyway i can check?

Here is the backtrace:

Quote:

(no debug symbols found)...(no debug symbols found) --> many lines

[switching to Process 580, Thread 1]
0x28e172af in poll () from /lib/lib.so.5

#2 0x284d8445 in _thread_kern_secheduler() from /usr/lib/libc_r.so.5
The crash dialog box said:

Hmm you could try
ldd /usr/local/bin/konqueror

and look for libpthread, libc_r or libthr.
Try the libmap.conf thing and see if that fixes it too..

Uhh, I meant for you to actually read them and find out :-/

You can pipe it to less like so..
ldd /usr/local/bin/konqueror | less

OK, you're using the libc_r.

First I suggest you try disabling ACPI, then trying the various NvAGP options in your X config file (read the docs that come with the driver for more info).

If that doesn't work, then try the 4365 drivers - they work for me (and I have the laptop version of the FX5200)

I have just finished installing everything i wanted on FreeBSD 5.3RC2 and thought i was finished....but no i wasn't :S

When i try to start a program ,even a simple program like glxgears, i get an error about /libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libm.so.2" not found, required by "libGL.so.1"

anyone know what to do?!??!?

if it can't find libm.so then something screwy is going on...

I suspect you ran ldconfig with the wrong arguments. How did you install the driver?

Try..
ldconfig /lib /usr/lib /usr/X11R6/lib /usr/local/lib

and you should be OK.
