Default nVidia techdemo's running slow on my 6800 !?

I've got my 6800 card a few days, and Lovin' it like crazy. After a few games I wanted to check out the techdemo's from nVidia. I've installed Nalu and Timbury. Nalu runs fine when I choose the mermaid file in the "bin6600" dir. When choosing the mermaid file in "bin" it runs much slower

Also the Timbury demo is a true slideshow How's this possbile?!

Games like Doom 3, Far Cry etc runs absolutely fabulous !

Hope someone knows some options to tweak this.

amd 3200+
1 gig dual channel
pov GeForce 6800, 128mb
ForceWare driver 61.77
DirectX 9.0c

Motherboard drivers up to date? AGP 3.0 makes a huge difference with 6800.

Here is you fix. Increse the agp aperature in you bios to at least 256. Remember that this does'nt use the 256 mb of you system memory only permits the use of it in case you run out of space on your gfx.

You could have the prob I was having - I was getting NASTY performance on both Nalu AND Timbury (not even terribly good 6600/lite!), and then I discovered - I had my global driver settings defaulting to control AA and AF - set 'em back to application controlled, and you should get a fairly massive performance boost. Bear in mind, you're never gonna get 6800U performance in Nalu 6800 in particular - it's INCREDIBLY memory hungry, to the extent that I couldn't even run it with my Swap file disabled, but you should get *relatively* smooth playback - certainly better than 10 fps. If you're getting issues with Timbury, and this ISN'T your problem, you should check using Rivatuner to make sure all your pipes are enabled, as Timbury runs perfectly on mine since I let apps control their own AA/AF.

Ridiculous DOES not have an 'e' in it. It comes from "ridicule" and has less than nothing to do with the colour red.

The fix from awhile back:

In the OpenGL section of the driver control panel, make sure you have "Single Display Mode" selected under the Multi-display hardware acceleration. The demos are OpenGL and are affected by this bug.

They should run acceptably after that.

Keep in mind that even then the demos will normally only average 18-25 FPS.

When you go into the driver control panel for your card (advanced display properties, tab at the top listing your card), you see a list pop out. Under performance and quality settings, there's a subsection for OpenGL.
