Exclamation Memory leak in 6111?

Hi all,

am I the only one who notices memory leaks in 6111? After playing bzflag
for several ours, my main memory gets near zero. Once my box froze. The
memory is not used by processes and remains occupied even after shutting
down x and unloading the nvidia kernel module.

I play Enemy Territory every day for 2-3 hours in a row, and never noticed any memory leak.

Could you try with another kernel? Maybe that kernel is the problem. Try to see if your distribution have an updated kernel. BTW, you'll also have to update the kernel source, and reinstall the kernel module

NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg0.run -K
should do it

BTW: I don't have much memory in this system.. Only 384MB

Thanks for reply,

I have the described behaviour with vanilla kernel 2.6.7 and I'm using gentoo on a K7-1400C (Thunderbird), 256MB Ram, graphics is a GForce 2 MX. X is XFree 4.3.0-r6 and 4.3.0-r7 for the dri. If I find some time, I'll do tests with 5336 again. I never noticed the mentioned behaviour with this. This is why I suspect the new driver.

So, now rechecked with 6111: after 2 hours of bzflag -> usable memory of 64MB (box has 256MB). Then reinstalled 5336 (nothing else changed): after 3 hours bzflag plenty of memory.

so 6111 has a leak, I'm shure.
