Default 2nd Head problem with 6111

Hi,

I'm having a problem with 6111 that I didn't have with 5336 (I haven't tried 6106) getting the 2nd head to work on my Sony Vaio PCG-GRT30P. The 2nd head displays all the data but the display is so corrupted as to be unusable.

When the 2nd head comes up the X display shudders violently - less in the middle and more extreme at the edges - text kinda looks like it is swimming. It gives the vague appearance of a mode line problem but I've tried various combinations of UseEdidFreqs and IgnoreEdid (with appropriate HorizSync and VertRefresh lines) to no avail. I've also tried 2 different model 17" CRTs, 1 x 17" TFT and a data projector with the same outcome. exactly the same X configuration file produces a stable picture with the 5336 driver (I downgraded the driver yesterday to check!).

Note that dual head works fine under Windows with the latest drivers also.

This happens in Clone mode as well as "real" TwinView. I've also tried with and without kernel AGPGART.

Any help appreciated!

BUMP!

No one knows anything?

I can confirm this problem also exists in driver version 6106 as well as 6111, but 5336 works fine. A friend with the same card (FX5600 Go) in a toshiba laptop has the same problem.

NVidia guys?

This is the same problem as posted by myself and others with the TWINVIEW problems.
5328 is fine. 5336 may be good too. but both won't compile with 2.6.8 kernels.
new nvidia drivers strangely change the hardware horizontal resolution by adding
2. try to check your external monitor.

I've tried 4 different external monitors so far. What do you mean by adding 2 to the horizontal resolution?

btw, I've compiled 5336, 6106 and 6111 fine with a 2.6.8 kernel.
