can anyone else reproduce corrupted screens and lockups with the following method?
open an xterm, run x11perf -rect500 while it's running, drag some background windows around. after the first iteration or so, i start getting little garbage 'turdlets' on my screen, and the contents of xterms start corrupting that looks like this: http://bani.anime.net/nvidia-screen-corruption.png also i hear a strange faint high pitched tone coming from the card when this happens. you can also try x11perf -srect500 i notice that when the high pitched tone occurs while running -srect500, the stippled rectangles suddenly accumulate some garbage. it happens in perfect synchronization with the tone. if i let it run long enough, it will eventually lock up X completely. card: evga geforce 6800 (non ultra, non gt) cpu: opteron 140 PSU: antec 450w mobo: asus sk8v with confirmed latest bios version kernel: linux 2.6.8.1 running in 32bit mode driver: nvidia 1.0-6111 |

Does this problem continue to reproduce with 1.0-7174?

This was a problem with 1.0-6*** drivers, which I had too, but now seems to be (quite) fixed.

yes, still happens with 7174.
3d applications seem fine, only 2d ones cause the corruption. |
