Default should the driver be executable?

after installing 6111 on my slackware box, i noticed that /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.o has the following permissions:

-rwxr-x-r-x

this doesn't seem right considering that it's a driver and not an executable script or program. also, all of the other files in that directory are -r--r--r--. doing a `chmod 444 nvidia_drv.o` didn't break anything.

just something i noticed,
