Saw this over at Halflife2.net, and it makes sense to me. I'm not going to swear it's the ineffable truth, but it's more likely than other things that I've heard.

Anyway - if it's preloading now, then they decided it made sense to risk somebody cracking open their encryption and pulling the guts of the game out for the world to see to get things loaded up in advance.

Well we have much more for HL2 then we ever have from DNF. Remember people are currently playing the MP part of HL2 right now (abeit in beta forum)....and there is a stress test....plus most of us have about 1 GB of HL2 stuff on our HDDs thanks to the preload...so I dont think its even close to being the next DNF, but yea if its delayed much longer then I see where you are going

yupp yupp. Sorry |JuiceZ|, I was merly trying to show that while HL2 has been delayed for a long time we do have some parts of it to play with now. Where as with DNF we got nothing. And trying to do that in a joking manner

Bah CS:S is only one map though, I like the physics, but from what I've seen, its gonna be a while before they release an RC to development....too many hard bugs yet.

Yeah it the final phase, that mean Half Life 2 is done, preload is completed. It have 3 source files: materials, models and sounds total 2.41Gb, big enough to fit in 4 CDs or a DVD.
