Default FX5600XT Improvements

Fellas
I have a 5600 card. It's only a month old, but I have been reading it crap. It a top med range card here for most systems. You eather get a 5600 or a 9700. For a med range gamer. I couldn't afford 2000$ for a topper. My system was 1000$ Cdn. 750$ US. I payed the same price for the 256 as the 128.
The ? is how can I get the most out of it, until I can pickup a new one. And then put it in my kids system.

Update to latest Nv WHQL graphic drivers and DX9.0(b) or (c). Try out the games you play and adjust graphic settings to your liking or what works.

5600XT's best benifits come from ramsinks, a replaced GPU heatsink/fan, and a voltmod... With all 3 of these in place (and the optional addition of a different 5600 bios), you would get the absolute most from that card.

However, the money's worth that you spend doin all that stuff, you could just sell it, throw a few bucks down and get at the very least a 5700NU, which actually would when overclocked feel like an upgrade from a 5600XT... a card that in stock configuration performs on par with a GF3 ti200...

performs = ti200 without AA/AF, but does just a shade better than a GF4ti with AA/AF...

that's @ stock... nv31 loves memory bandwidth...

And I don't however think a 5600U bios would work unless it was downclocked to at least 350/550...

What are the stock clocks on your card, and what do you presently have it clocked at?

Maybe you could flash it, it's risky though. Ultra's are usually clocked much higher than the normal versions, and the XT is slower than the normal version. So it may have overheating problems. And yeah the 5600 was a bad card, the 5700 was kinda a revision of it and that's the good midrange card, it's pretty nice.
