No I've not tried any mods yet. Only a couple of custom maps.

So you meant that after applying the beta patch this happens? If so, you should have made this known.

i wonder if, by using the patch, people without it wont be compatible in multiplayer.

Correct.

- Changed server protocol version from 1.33 to 1.34

Old clients shouldn't be able to join beta servers and the other way round.

It says what I reiterated (and bitched about) in the third post of this thread.

Then you obviously have no sense of humor. I was making fun of the fact that no matter what modification is made to this game, your savegames are reverted to the start of whatever map you're on. I exaggerated to the extreme this point by saying if you look at the game funny, it starts your map over. Any humor this had was now lost since I had to explain it. Thanks.

This is whats stopped me from using or at this point even trying some of the many mods out on the net.

I hear you. It's so frustrating and really...I can't think of a single good reason for as to why the game is set up like that.

That and having to restart the game everytime you make some sort of change to the graphics. It was so frustrating trying to get a good video mode when testing them out becuase it takes 2-3 minutes to load everytime...I was not happy the first few hours of owning Doom 3.
