Default Problem Starting X With GeForce4 MX 440 in SuSE 9.0

When I try to start X on my SuSE 9.0 system with the nvidia driver, I get some very odd looking patterns, but nothing usable.

My specifics:

Video Card: GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 8X
NVidia Driver Version: 1.0.6111
Linux distro: SuSE 9.0
Processor: AMD Athlon 2800+
Video Bios Version: 162

Prior to trying to install this newest nvidia driver, my older version would start X in the same way, but would recover if I killed the X server (CTRL-ALT-BKSP).

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Config and log file attached.
