i can't provide proof, as i have only read of these problems in forums and obviously forum links aren't always solid. nVidia has not released any information on the problem - but then why would they if there was a serious flaw in their hardware.

please realise that these corruptions and slowdowns happen seemingly randomly and so are hard to replicate on certain setups. a slower cpu does however seem to increase the probability of it happening

check my sig mate. 2.17ghz all games run fine for me. what the hell is your point?

right because you dont have any real proof to back up your claims. if there were problems with need for speed underground, f1 2001, etc... there would be a ton of people complaining. there is not however so...

might be best to hold some of those comments back till the game actually comes out...

from teh stress tests the nv3x products seem to handle hl2 related shaders more than adequately and suffer minimal IQ loss as a consequence...

if the users are getting the best possible experience on their products and its just slightly less than the complete UBER experience I don't see a problem really... hell i would be happy if the differences were effectively imperceptible....

i agree with you about the users. other than the handful of people who care about the implementation of what shader and what not... its all about the entertainment value. i am definately in the category of "caring about shaders" an all that jazz.. but as long as a gamer who doesnt care about that has a great time playing a game... then let them enjoy it. he wont notice little IQ differences

I don't see what the problem is in HL2? Why the slow frame rates? Wasn't FarCry using DirectX9? I got reasonable framerates with Farcry on my FX5900 XT, what's the prob?

I happen to agree with you NividaGuru.... What I don't understand is how some people on Nivida's side of the fence will say what you just said but then act like SM3.0 is the next coming of Christ..
People saying that X800's are not as future proof as a 6800?? For crying out loud when games actually even approach SM3.0 spec's let alone bump into the SM2.0 ceiling the X800 and 6800 will be low end parts....

Alot of the dx9 shaders were replaced with dx8 approximations when playing farcry on a gffx...

I too saw an article on the fact that Farcry used DX 8.1 in the GFFXs rather than DX9 like the Radions cant find the article again though (and I have tried) so cant post a link.

I thought nvidias much touted inline compiler as introduced in the 50 driver set was supposed to have cured all these incompatibility problems with the FXs and DX9 it doesnt seem to improve performance in HL2 though, after all this time in development I would have expected better from nvidia. I mean ATI 9800 and 9600 are users able to play all their games as the developer intended them to be seen, sure there a bit slower on doom 3 but all the details there and theres not that much difference in frame rate that the game becomes unplayable. Im hoping that nvidia pull a driver out of the hat that will give us an extra 20 FPS and full DX9 effects because although you cant see that much detail difference now on the CS map Valve have released I bet you will in HL2 especially in areas of the game where theres a lot of water (DX9 water looks much better in the stress test demo than DX8.1 water). Does any one know if nvidia have officially responded to the findings of the various hardware websites such as Firing squad and their articles on this subject? Do nvidia care? After all they seem to have a good product in the 6800 chipset maybe they will try and forget about the FX. For now I still feel disappointed, wonder if I can get a refund for my fake ass DX9 card?

Have we been ripped off?, will nvidia release drivers so we will get all the effects(at good speeds) before the game is released?,is any one else P***ed off?.
If you got FX card to play next gen games you have been strongly missinformed
