hmm.. maybe its best seen in action, but they seem a little bland. Kinda flat color scheme... aside from that they look pretty good.

Yeah it's worth checking out. The bump mapping on the tree bark looks nice. I agree that the color pallete on the screenshots above looks a bit washed out, but you can control gamma correction and there are also more colorful maps (see main screen below).

I actually liked their first demo speedtree demo myself. I think the biggest point of the demo isnt to show the best looking trees ever...but more nice landscapes with a ship load of trees on the screen at once. Would defently be good for games like Ghost Recon and Americas Army etc

Well said. The sheer numbers of trees present at nice framerates (granted, without any AI or much in the way of physics involved though, etc) is more than impressive and like nothing seen in games today. It's also promising to see the horizon being miles away (instead of in terms of hundreds of yards as is the case with most any game's outdoor environments today).

The graphics were okay as far as demos of large maps with huge amounts of animated foliage and a goofy little flyable helicopter go.

Just wish it had 5.1 surround sound. That would be nice.

Default Anyone seen the new SpeedTree: Pangaea Demo? On Nvidias Site?

http://developer.nvidia.com/object/t...f_pangaea.html

Demo apparently makes use of Instancing when available (On the Geforce 6800 series) , And 2.0 Pixel/Vertex Shaders. Looks really good.
