Well, not exactly mythical, but, um, I dunno... Anyone ever seen a GF3 with BGA memory (I'm sure a waterblocked 300/800 GF3 would surely kick arse)? A GF4 with a 256 bit memory bus or DDR2 (
: )? Things like that... I'm just wondering, cuz I'm sure nv has messed around with things like that before, as well as ATI (yes, I remember the Sapphire 9800 MAXX) ... So, if you've seen something outlandish, post about it here...

I dunno about a gf3 with BGA memorys because, BGAs weren;t around when geforce3 launched no? As for Gf4 with 256 bit memory interface....i dun think NV designed them way ie GF4 do not support 256 bit memory interface

hm, well, ok... BGA was around in the GF3 days... (remember the BGA SDRAM back around that time?)... and I'm sure that nv prolly played around with the GF4 memory interface at one point in time during nv30 develpoment... I'm not looking for those exact circumstances persay, just wonderin if anyones seen any mutants similar to what I mentioned..

I wonder how that 9800 MAXX stacks up to the X800XT or X800 Pro. Probably not too shabby
![]() And no, Ive never seen any crazy video cards. I wish I did though, itd be very cool ![]() How about those pictures of those cards that were being made a few years ago that used dozens of VSA-100 (Voodoo 4, 5) chips. Those were awesome ![]() EDIT: here it is, it wasnt a card, its a system that uses the chips for special rendering purposes: http://www.quantum3d.com/products/AA.../aalchemy.html 16 VSA-100 chips and it probably still isnt as fast a 6800 Ultra ![]()

I've seen them...they were never meant to be publicized, and they were dumped into a shallow grave near the San Andreas Fault, but their ghosts still linger. It starts with no more than a small chill, but then becomes slightly colder, and colder, punctuated by periods of hot flashes, and then...you see them. Shimmering in the desert, louder than a train, they come at you in droves.
Yes, friends, I'm talking about...the Geforce4 Ti 4900. They had a 512 bit memory bus, a gig of DDR 2, liquid nitrogen cooling systems, a 64 bit pipe, all mounted onto a what looked like a PNY Verto Geforce Ti 4600. Core clocks exceeded one 1ghz, and memory was at 3 ghz. It was DX 9 compatible, as the first few were made just a few days before the release of the Geforce FX, but it was too expensive to manufacture, so all 20 of them were buried, never to be seen again. Oh, and don't go digging in the desert. Unless you are one with the Nvway, their great energy can not be harnessed.

I don't know but an AGP S3 Savage4 with 32mB seems pretty mutant to me.
It owned in OpenGL! (well... not exactly owned but it could run... almost...) I got to the end of RTCW on that card!

"Overclocking The best cards for overclocking are the Diamond Monster 3D II and the Miro Hiscore˛. Both are able to run at up to 98 MHz I have - if you accept the expenses of cooling! Otherwise you will face serious temperature problems. Canopus' Pure3D 2 is the only card that comes with a little fan, but unfortunately it was still not as highly overclockable as the above mentioned boards. The performance gains of overclocking a Voodoo˛ are only around some per cent even with a Pentium II 400. Maybe it could be worth it with a 500 MHz CPU, but in this case I would rather recommend going for a Voodoo3 card, once 3Dfx decides to supply it! " 98 mhz, now that's speed!! Ha ha, back in the day. I have an Asus V6600 Ultra 64mb Geforce 256 sitting in my office. I haven't been able to find mention of that card ANYWHERE on the web, EVER. Maybe it's a one of a kind deal.

Wish I could find a pic of Jazz Multimedia's Bonnie & Clyde. It was the only card to use AGP and PCI on the same card!
