Remember the voodoo 6000 (and some other version?) had an external power supply http://www.sysopt.com/articles/21stC...ds/v5_6000.png and everybody was slapping their heads thinking its laughable to draw so much power. Well, who's laughing now with having to buy 600W PSU for the 6800U SLI

Those cards that BitBoys were trying to make.

128MB of DDR memory (back in GeForce 256/GeForce 2 GTS days)
4096mpixels/s (compared to 1000 of GeForce 2 or something)
etc.

Voodoo 5 6000
4 VSA-100 chips in "Quadrupule SLI"
128MB of SDRAM
molex connector
+ special intel decoding chip

pro video card (from 3DLabs I think)
32mb sdram (back in riva 128 8mb/savage 3d 8mb/intel 740 8mb days)

ati rage pro fury maxx
64mb sdram (in geforce 256 days)
dual chipset
(actually saw this one in a local store being displayed, had a pilot pic on it)

About 50 of these cards exist and I think less than 10 of them are actually functional. I wish I could see one up close.

This one really did exist at retail for a while. The problem with it was Windows had to be tricked into seeing one chip as AGP and the other as PCI. While the drivers did their best to keep the frame rates in sync, it didn't always work. Further, the card could only utilize one chip in Windows 2000 (and half the vram) because of OS limitations and the driver trick needed to get both chips to be recognized.

I actually saw the bitboys demoing their first card called the Pyramid 3D back in the day when the Matrox Mystique was all new and the Voodoo1 a few months away, and I could tell the dragon and marble hall scenes they displayed couldnt be running on software (the Pentium Pro 166 being the top dog). I guess they always had a couple prototypes handy.
