Unhappy Hercule / Guillemot GF2 MX 32 with Fedora core 2 very unstable help!

Hi there.

I've got Hercules old GeForce 2 MX 32 card, which I understand has a slightly different architecture to the reference design (some texture pipes use for geometry or something..?).

I've tried the latest Nvidia drivers, they installed fine, and X booted, OpenGL was being accelerated, everything hunky-dory. Unfortunately it'll only run for a few minutes before either trashing X (X restarts to GDM), or completely freezing the computer.

I know I should get a new card, and I intend to, but I can't for a couple of months.
Also, I'm concerned that whatever new card I get might have similar problems, does anyone know of a compatibility list?

For Windows I had to use Hercules' drivers, as the nVidia ones gave me similar (but less extreme) problems as I'm having in Linux.

Hercules / Guillemots site points at the nVidia site for drivers, so it seems they don't offer modified versions of nVidia's Linux drivers...

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or am I just going to have to stick to the 'nv' driver?

tia
