Sony Vaio Geforce FX Go5600 Flickering Screen

I have a Sony Vaio PCG-GRT170 with a Geforce FX Go5600. Every 10 minutes or so I have a flicker in my screen. The screen has interlaced black blocks within the picture for a split second. It is not only extremely annoying, but I am afraid that it will eventually damage my screen.

I am using the 1.0-6111 driver and x.org 6.7. I have had this problem with every driver I have ever used for the computer. I believe the first driver i used was 1.0-5336 or something close to that. I have experienced the same problem with xfree 4.3, as well as x.org 6.8.0.

Currently I am using Fedora Core 2, however, I have used also experienced this problem with Gentoo Linux 1.4, 2004.0, 2004.1, 2004.2.

My video bios revision is 04.31.20.37.a8. My computer has a 2.8 ghz processor.

Does the "nv" driver do this too? "vesa"? Windows even?
