Benchmark rome total war please!

PLEASE someone who has access to both x800xt and 6800 ultra run benchmarks for Rome: Total War. The game is out now

I want to compare to see which card performs better in this game because im in the market for one of these cards.

I did some benching with the demo between a 6800 and a 6800 Ultra. I did not have an X800XT PE at the time but an educated guess is that it will perform a bit better on the 6800 Ultra up to 1600x1200. At 1600x1200 the X800XT PE would likely show a slight gain but only with 4xAA and 8xAF applied.

Hmm...well I know the full version performs a lot better than the demo.

What I REALLY want to see is how both cards perform when there's HUGE battles of say 5000+ soldiers on the battlefield.

So you think the 6800u will have a slight advantage up to 1600x1200 and at 1600x1200 itself, unless AA and AF are applied?
I dont even know if either card will run well under those high settings with large battles.
Tell me what you think....and if you plan on doing any benchmarks with the full version.

Right, all I had at that time was the demo though. I don't have the full version of R:TW but if there's enough interest for it to be benched in reviews I'll probably get it. It does seem to be a very CPU bound game though.

You raise a good question about the larger battles. I've yet to confirm whether or not R:TW takes advantage of geometric instancing. If so, that could give the performance nod to the 6800 cards.
