I upgraded to Xorg-X11 6.8, and reinstalled the nvidia-1.0-6.111 drivers. Upon trying to start X, I get an error saying "no devices detected" (full log at http://www.eng.uwaterloo.ca/~rbaverst/Xorg.0.log). Config file did not change from 6.7 to 6.8. Using the stock "nv" driver works.
modprobe nvidia doesn't complain, and dmesg says it loaded fine. Worked beautifully with Xorg 6.7. Config file has "nvidia" as the driver in the device section. System info: Gentoo Linux (no one affiliated with them has been able to help) nVidia GeForce 4 Ti 46000 Dual Opteron 242's Tyan Tiger K8W Mobo 256 MB Registered ECC RAM more stuff... |
