Default Problem Installing Far Cry

I was walking through Fry's Electronics today and I grabbed Far Cry off the shelf. Got home, and it goes through disc 1 and 2 fine (although a bit slow) but at 3 it locks the computer up for long periods of time and apparently doesn't install. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solution.
One thought I had was that it's an issue with my burner - it's the only CD drive I have. I don't have any burning software installed. Will I have to get another CD drive just to install this ******* game?

hmm Far Cry uses Star fox protetion method which doesn't like certain "Virtual CD" drives prgames and also certain CD drives ...IIRC.

hmm if the CD locks then maybe its a problem with the CD itself?

I did a search and someone else had the exact same problem on the exact same CD. It could be a CD error, but what's the likelyhood of two people having the same lockup?

It looks like it was a CD drive problem. I swapped in a 36x reader and it seems to be working fine - stupid copy protection. Doom 3 took a long time to read in my sony CD-rw also...oh well, I've been needing to get a DVD drive for a while now.
