Have you seen anywhere that describes what combinations to use? I was playing with that but wasn't sure what combinations are acceptable. I've only done 2.0/2.0, 2.0/2.0b, and 3.0/3.0 so far. If I try to do 2.0a, do I choose 2.0a for both?

It gets even better. You have a Athlon 64 FX 53 clocked 300mhz FASTER than my AthlonXP and only get 1fps more than me in one of the tests! Im not trying to diss your system or even say it's equal (which would be way off track) to mine but im just in awe on how well my old Athlon XP performs.

That's why these benchmarks are worthless, because it doesn't come close to showing how 2 systems will perform in a real game. When you bring A.I. into the equation, the picture completely changes.

Also, in real life, my FX53 smokes my 3.6 Ghz P4 rig, but in this benchmark with identical cards they score about the same. Making this benchmark completely meaningless in my opinion.

Anistrophic Opt = On (3dmark05 doesn't use anistrophic on default so I would guess that this has no bearing)

I updated drivers to 66.70 from 61.77, restarted and gained 800 3dmarks!

I love my computer... this ol' 1700+ is holding up so well

EDIT: Im running in Quality mode. AA off and AF off

EDIT2: Im proud, im 19th (and on the first page) for all Athlon XP systems

Ya know Futuremark really is evil if you think about it. It convinces all of us that our computers aren't good enough and we gotta keep upgrading, but the fact is any game I throw at my computer runs AWESOME. LOL, I agree. And I thought I had a good system....haha. Oops. Anyway, I guess it's stuff like this that keeps hardware manufacturers in biz.

The thing is...it will take forever for games to get any where close to tapping this sort of quality in game. Look how long it's taken for shaders of any sort to be seen in game at all. And I could say the same thing about real time lighting hype 3 years ago (I think 3...with the release of the original Geforce Ultra). Games lag so far behind, no matter what this test says, it will be another 2 years before we really have games that push my GT (or current vid hardware) to obsolescence.

Your right. The FX53 is by far the fastest gamming processor right now. Doom 3 is a good example. Im just saying that this shows that the Athlon XP can still hold it's own in todays app/games. It's designed to be a graphics card benchmark instead of a overall system benchmark like a game would be.
