If you guys want to see the effect of SLI versus a single card, pick up recent issues of PC Gamer. They usually show benchmarks of an Alienware SLI rig with FX-55 versus a single card.

You get maybe 1.7x the 3DMark2003/2005 score of a single card, but not much of an increase in actual gaming. I think Doom3 went from 87 to 113 with SLI. SplinterCell has some sort of fps limiter and gained nothing.

This was a comparison between dual 6800 Ultras and a single one.

I use all four 3DMarks as an indicator of stability, so I see the scores a lot. With 3DMark2005, I am seeing pretty much the same scores with my DFI NF4 rig no matter the overclock, which most of the time runs 2600-2880. I get 6275-ish with an X850XT PE at default clock of 540/590. It's pretty much automatic and never changes no matter how fast the ram.

It's clear to move the score I gotta overclock the card.

5638 using the 77.40 dev drivers - scores is about 200 points off usual due to the performance monitoring nature of this driver set.

sometime soon im gonna break 6000 on this GT.

(no cheats - just good old fashioned O/C)

I might run a benchy know with ALL cheats applied, im curious how many points it gives - brb

well using high perf driver settings with AF forced OFF in CP I scored 5780 sojust over 100 points gained.

I would think with the 76.91 drivers or earlier the normal score would be around 5800 and the cheat score around 5950

maybe a few VGA bios tweaks and a new driver set will get me over 6000 on default driver settings.

5603 3Dmark2005 benchmark results

First two tests fps really high numbers, but the last two cpu tests lagged down to as low as 1 fps.

Just installed Gigabyte's GV 3D1 rig last weekend. I must say that Doom 3, Far Cry, and Rome Total War appear the same as my old AMD 2500+/Asus FX5700 256 MB PC. However, the above benchmark speaks for itself! Much more impressive than the old config!

Regards, Wick

CPU AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Mobo Gigabyte K8NXP SLI
Video Gigabyte GV 3D1 Dual Core 6600GT 256 MB DDR3
RAM Dual Channel 1 GB 2x512 MB PC3200 DDR Platinum RAM
HDD Samsung 160 GB 2 MB Cache 7200 rpm
Power Startech Mutant Mods THE REACTOR 480 Watts
Driver Standard Nvidia with mobo (I think 66 81 driver)
