OK I made some Optimizing over my system and some Overclocking on my Gigabyte 6800GT (overclocked at 415/1170 )
Using 77.76 I got 5575 3dmarks.
Not bad

How many points do you get with your X2 4800 with no SLI ?

Man it really sucks to see a CPU limitation & you can do nothin' about it.

It was around 8200 with the X2 4800+ and 7800 at stock.

Hmm I guess cpu speed is not that important in 3dMark o5?

Im getting 8600 on a 3500+. I know theres a few tweaks here and there. Stock is around 7600 IIRC.

Does your X2 make much difference to the newest games ??

Trying to guage whether I should get one or wait!! (or get the fx57 )

It does get importanrt once you are CPU limited by say dual 7800GTXs. OWA's numbers clearly show that.

which is why I asked him what score he got with 1*7800 because thats what I have but with a 3500+ whereas he has a X2-4800+ and he had maybe a 300- 600 point increase of what I get at stock.

I was trying to guage whether it was worthwhile me upgrading atm.

I'm not really sure yet. I had forgotten to install the AMD CPU driver so I was having major stability problems until today. From what I've seen so far, it seems to help some with the minimum framerates. I can see that even when running 3DMark05. With the 3500+ and the underclocked X2, I was in the 20s a lot more than when the X2 was running at full speed or overclocked a little.

Unhappy Re: 3DMark05 Benchmark Results

Hello All,

Just put together a new system and I'm in the process of tweaking it, but I'm a bit confused....
The new system's core components are an FX-57 (stock clock 2.812Mhz),
DFI LanParty NF4 SLI, 1 Gig OCZ EL DDR PC-4800 Platinum Elite Edition 2-2-2-10-1T timing @DDR400, 1-BFG 7800 GTX, 2-76 Gig Rapters (non-Raid), SB Audigy 2 ZS, Plextor IDE 716 CD/DVD, Silverstone ST65ZF p/s.

My preliminary benchmark (77.72 drivers, specifically no vsync) with 3DMark05 gave me a score of about 8200. This alligns with all the "Web" reviews of the card with an FX 55 or 57 processor. What I don't understand is how are people getting scores of 10k plus?!?
Again, I rechecked the web-reviews of this card paired with an FX-55 or 57 processor and my score seems good.
I'm not new to computers nor to benchmarking but I just don't understand how there can be such a gap in 3DMark05 scores for the same components.
I initially worried that there was something wrong in my set-up, but the on-lines reviews reflect no problems (or is there something wrong?).

any suggestions would be appreciated

Kevin
