Can a ti4200 agp4x be moded or turned into AGP8X?

Jus curious wheather my ti4200-agp4x can be moded or turned into agp8x..
i hav a geforce 6800GT, so planning to experiment with my ti4200, if it is sucessfull..well n good

I hav an Inno3d Geforce4 ti4200 128mb ddr

Personaly don't think its possible , but if it is , what would you gain ? not FPS surely

, better try adding extensive cooler and volt mod it , make a monster

If such a mod were possible (which it isn't AFAIK), you would gain absolutely nothing from it.

AGP8X and AGP4x interfaces are both physically and electrically different.

Besides, even a 5% overclock would do more to your framerate than switching from agp4x to 8x

I kno, it wont b advantageous, I jus wantd to kno if such a mod was possible.
I was thinkin of flashin its bios with a Ti4200-AGP8X bios.
but if that fails.. the card will never start. So ill leave it.
And abt overclockin.. i did overclok it frm 250/447 to 268/494...
But didnt giv the SIGNIFICANT FPS BOOST

Bwah? Not that I know of. The AGP3.0 spec is a superset not a replacement for AGP 2.0. The slots are identical. Perhaps you can explain what you mean.

The NV25 GPU was Ti4x00 AGP4x and NV28 was Ti4x00 AGP8x + bugfixes over NV25. You can't flash a bios on a NV25 card and magically get AGP8x.

What kind of system were you trying to run it in? And how do you define "significant?"

Agreed. And if I remember correctly AGP4x and 8x use different slot voltages.

But anyway going from AGP4x to 8x would not be a noteworthy performance boost, not even in benchmarks. In fact the high AGP rate allows for more bandwidth which only really benefits at very high resolutions of 1600x1280 or more. Considering a TI4200 is showing it's age anyway it's unlikely you would be gaming as such high settings, and so AGP8x would be useless.

The AGP 8X connection is backward compatible to 4x but but it works at 0.8V (?) rather than 1.5V. I believe also that older 3.3V cards (AGP2x or early 4x) are no longer supported

That's not what he's asking, he wants to convert an AGP4x to APG8x for more performance.

QSTN is answered, it can't/wont happen!.

And for the qstn on significant boost: i used a pentium3 866MHz/i815e/256mb sdram with Ti4200..
wen i overcloked the card... i barely got 5 fps increment in UT2k3, splinter cell..etc. other apps.
