Default Nforce 0283 driver audio problems

Hi all,
I recently upgraded (clean install) to FC2 and want to use the Nforce-0283 audio driver instead of alsa on my Asus A7N8X Del ver2.0 mobo. But it doesn't want to work for some reason and I'm hoping someone here can help. I've attached the install log. Here's my lsmod:

Module Size Used by

soundcore 7713 4 nvsound

nvidia 4823380 12
md5 3905 1
ipv6 217349 6
xfs 505777 1

I have to manually remove the snd_mixer_oss, and snd modules even though I have the alsa stuff commented out in my modprobe.conf file because they always load on start up, but it only those two modules the rest of the alsa modules dont load anymore. Here is what my modprobe.conf file looks like:

alias eth0 3c59x
#alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
#install snd-intel8x0 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-intel8x0 && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/#dev/null 2>&1 || :
#remove snd-intel8x0 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --#ignore-remove snd-intel8x0
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 ohci-hcd
alias char-major-195* nvidia
alias snd-card-1 nvsound
install nvsound /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install nvsound && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
remove nvsound { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove nvsound

Any help is very much appreciated.

Default Re: Nforce 0283 driver audio problems

Similar problem here.

I have made a full install of fedora core 2.
Downloaded the driver for nforce audio and network from nvidia. Installed it. Edited the modprobe.conf
It looks like this:
alias eth0 nvnet
alias scsi_hostadapter sata_promise
alias snd-card-0 nvsound
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 ohci-hcd

But at restart, kudzu found a new soundcard. And at the audio devices/soundcard detection menu, I've got 2, the following:

#1
nVidia corporation
Vendor: nVidia corporation
Model: nForce 2 AC97 Audio Controller (MCP)
Module: snd-intel8x0

#2
nVidia corporation
Vendor: nVidia corporation
Model: nVidia multimedia audio (via vt82c686b)
module: nvsound

The second one is set as the primary device

Okay, at nvmixer I set 5.1, but it still works like 4 speakers. At sorround settings, lfe crossover is grey, cant enable it. So center and subwoofer wont work.

Also, at shutdown/restart, at shutting down the driver, it has some error, somethign like this: no soundcards found and returns failed

Help?

Default Re: Nforce 0283 driver audio problems

I have upgraded my kernel to 2.6.8-1.521, but yum did not upgrade the kernel source. So I downloaded kernel-sourcecode-2.6.8-1.521.noarch.rpm and installed it. But since the upgrade, before and after kernel sourcecode installed, the ethernet driver wont compile, and the sound driver wont work either. Trying everything since a few hours now.
