Dang it must be taking that guy a long time to d/l that stuff. I kept up with all the preloads and started downloading CS:S last night. Guess how long it took me to START d/ling CS:S and BEGIN playing it? Less than 5 MINS!!!!!!! That was frickin awesome. I thought I would've had to wait for the "Steam Servers are busy. Try again later." crap. But man, I'm real impressed with CS:S, even though last night was my first time playing it ever. Someone please make a 6800 GT skin for that Radeon mess . . . haha.

Yeah, I gave in to temptation and pre-loaded it too. I too am impressed! I wasn't expecting a lot less out of CS-Source. But GEEZ does it run good! My average fps is like 80-85! Great netcode too, there's almost no lag on any of the servers. Plus, it's a blast to play CS with new graphics, and without those damn shields.

I thought it was kinda funny how even with the pretty shiny floors and all that fancy hoop-la, it still runs far better than Far Cry. Far Cry sucks.

Uh...why wouldn't it?

You're running around in largely empty levels with simplistic architecture and very little dynamic lighting. I'm not saying it doesn't look good, it does - but complaining that Far Cry doesn't have the same performance? Of course it doesn't.

In Far Cry, you have massive draw distance, complex enemy AI (for todays standards), densely packed vegitation, and in some levels Doom3-style lighting. Obviously, running around in warmed-over Counterstrike levels isn't going to present the same burden to your system.

Don't expect HL2 to get the same performance as CS:S.
